• Ge for Monochromators

Low dislocation density Germanium crystals are a highly effective material for X-ray and neutron monochromators and mirrors due to their precise reflectivity and diffraction properties. They offer several key advantages over other materials:

Superior Energy Resolution: Germanium provides a better energy resolution, allowing for a narrower range of wavelengths to be selected.

Excellent Tunability: These crystals are ideal for tuning monochromators and channel-cut crystals to a specific range of X-ray or neutron energies.

Harmonic Suppression: Germanium's crystal structure naturally suppresses certain harmonic reflections, leading to a purer, more monochromatic beam.

We offer both VGF (Vertical Gradient Freeze) and Czochralski grown crystals for this application.
